What is your favorite band memory? "Being under the Friday night lights performing with my color guard girls."

What will you miss about high school band? "Putting my uniform on and getting ready to perform."

What are your plans after high school? "To become a cosmetologist and getting a job at the FBI."

Advice to new band students? "Make new friends. Don't be scared to step out of your comfort zone. Make tons of memories because the four years go by quicker than you think."

Advice to new band students? "The band is basically family. That doesn't mean do a lot of bad things and try not have them bail on you. They care for you as you care for them."

What are your plans after high school? "I am going to LPN school."

Advice to new band students? "Enjoy your time with everyone. Don't be shy, let your true self out. No one will judge you in band. Always remember don't take anything or any memory for granted."

Why did you join band? "I decided to join band in elementary school because I would do nothing but play music when I got home from school everyday. Whether it was pressing random keys on the piano, or tapping my fingers on my school desk, I had a knack for music and decided to do something with it. I've loved it ever since."

​

If you could play one song at a game, what would it be? "I would want to play Alone Together by Fall Out Boy."

​

What has been your favorite field show songs?  "My favorites have been Birdland from sophomore year, Holiday from junior year, and The Phoenix from senior year."

​

What is your favorite band memory? "My best band memory was having fun overall every game. I loved hanging out with the people I've come to accept as my second family, and would do it all over again if I could."

​

What will you miss about high school band? "I will miss meeting new people every year and making new friendships. I will also miss taking freshmen under my wing and passing on what I've learned."

​

What are your plans after high school? "I plan to go into college majoring in psychology, and work in my spare time as a dog groomer. I plan to become a Behavioral Health Therapist when I finish college."

​

Will you play in the band in college? "I plan on joining the WVU marching band for all my years in college."

​

Advice to new band students? "Remember that each and every kid was a new freshman at one point, and they started out knowing very little. Remember there is always room to learn. But also have fun while you're learning."

Why did you join band? "I joined band early in life because I wanted to be a cool kid who played a horn bigger than them but ended up loving it so I continued through high school."

If you could play one song at a game, what would it be? "I would play Sucker over and over until I fell over dead because it was a fun, challenging, and unique routine with my flag."

​

What has been your favorite field show songs?  "Dirty Deeds, Mr. Roboto, and  Sucker."

​​

What is your favorite band memory? "My favorite band memory is when we were at our first spectacular and Hannah called horns up and my mouthpiece flew about 7 feet behind me and I had to inch myself back to get it. "

​

What will you miss about high school band? "I am going to miss mostly my guard girls out of all of high school. Band was the highlight of my school life and I will never forget a single performance under the lights with my girls.."

​

What are your plans after high school? "My plans after high school are to finish my medical assisting career and go on to be an RN or a pediatric nurse."​

​

Advice to new band students? "Be yourself. You are going to realize sooner than later that not everyone will like you and that's totally okay. And don't be afraid to try new things. I never thought I would be able to toss a 6 ft pole in the air and spin it around my body, but there I was, doing just that because I stepped out of my comfort zone."

Why did you join band? "I wanted an outlet to make more friends in fifth grade and beyond going into my middle school and high school years. I was able to play rhythms well and honestly the percussionists seemed like the coolest people in the room so that is why I became one."

If you could play one song at a game, what would it be? "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark” by Fall Out Boy

​

What has been your favorite field show songs?  "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap and Big Noise from Winnetka."

What is your favorite band memory? "Going to PASIC because it was a trip where it was not the entire band going just the drum line. I felt that I was the closest I had ever been with my drum line family and we made so many memories. My favorite memory was our charter bus breaking down and being stuck at an IHOP til 1a.m. waiting for a new one. "

​

What will you miss about high school band? "I am going to miss the drum line more than anything. I have made so many friends and close bonds because of them. I love every single of them and cannot wait to see what they accomplish in the coming years because they are all exceptionally talented. I will also miss Mr. Channell’s random banter and dad jokes."

​

What are your plans after high school? "My plans are to go to college and major in public relations and international relations on a pre-law track. After undergrad I plan to attend law school to specialize in intellectual property law."​

​

Will you play in the band in college? "I might join my sophomore year of college. My freshman year I want to focus on settling in and focusing on my studies. I am sure I will get the marching band itch again and want to join."​

​

Advice to new band students?  "Do not take any memory or opportunity you have as a band kid for granted good or bad because they are fun to look back on when you get to be a senior. Push to be the best version of yourself you can be while having the best years of your life with best people you will ever meet. Your instructors are the best people you will ever meet, and they will teach you so much about friendship and leadership so listen to them. And finally, the Channell’s will become like second parents to you and will always remind you to have fun and stick with it which is very good advice to follow."

Why did you join band? 
"I joined band because a guy from Bandland came to present the instruments to us my fourth grade year and made them look really cool. Also, I’ve always wanted to be associated with music."

Other musical involvement/accomplishments: "I’ve been in both the Choir and Select Choir in school and have participated in musicals since the sixth grade. I’ve also taken vocal lessons at Bandland, and have taken musical theater at Instep School of Dance(as well as many dance classes)."

If you could play one song at a game, what would it be? 
"I’ve always wanted to play Freaks by Timmy Trumpet as a pep band song."
​
What has been your favorite field show songs? 
"My favorite field show songs have been Call Me (because I loved the low parts), and Mic Drop (because of the clarinet solo we had)."

What is your favorite band memory? 
"My favorite band memory was the musical we watched in New York (Wicked). I got to sit beside Mrs. Channell the whole time in a really great seat! "

What will you miss about high school band? 
"I’ll definitely miss the football games the most."

What are your plans after high school? "My plans after high school are to attend Fairmont State University and major in music education. "​

Will you play in the band in college?  "I definitely plan to be in the band in college."​

Advice to new band students? 
"The band is going to be a family no matter what, so open up and enjoy the ride."

"When I was little, I loved the marching bands in parades. They were always my favorite part. I wanted to be a part of something that 'cool'."

Other musical involvement/accomplishments: "I have been a member of the jazz band three years,  a three-year member of the Shinnston Community Band, a four year member of All-County Band, a four year member of select choir and theatre department, won outstanding performance award at Marshall Jazz Festival two years in a row, and attended Governor's School for the Arts."

"To play its been Big Noise from Winnetka and to direct its been Bang Bang."

"Taking my place on my field commander stand at band camp for the first time. It was magic!"

"It really is a family. Band was my safe haven. It's where I could be most myself. I'll miss my band family, especially the Channels. They're basically my second set of parents."

What are your plans after high school? "I will be attending West Virginia University majoring in music education with an emphasis in vocal music."​

Will you play in the band in college?  "My freshman year I want to get used to college so no, but, I would definately consider it for the following years."​

Advice to new band students? 
"Do not take one moment for granted. Each moment in the band is special and it'll be over before you know it. Don't be afraid to have fun."
